Take time to pause for a minute. How many times have you heard the words Fascism, Communism, Socialism, Progressivism, Capitalism? We banter these words about not fully knowing what they mean. There are social-economic political issues that some have studied long and hard and still fail to provide an exact definition for them all. Each of these terms are approximate and suggest an blend of economic and political power. As such, our Constitution provides for a Democratic Republic where the boundary between the State and Economy could be defined as the separation of economy and state. The Constitution provides for a free republic where citizen live in a free economy. This is one of the foundations of the freedoms that American know and love.
There is a phrase in our nation’s Declaration of Independence that captures our hearts and minds…
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.—That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, —That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
We know that John Locke gave the world the ideas of the Rights of Life, Liberty, and Property in his 1690 book, Two Treatises of Government. In The 2nd Treatise, Locke is quoted as listing our natural rights to include the rights of “Life, Liberty, and Estate.” Estate is what we call property today and that is what we usually say when we list our rights to Life, Liberty, and Property.
Thomas Jefferson understood Locke’s Treatise and paraphrased ‘estate’ or ‘property’ with the phrase, “pursuit of Happiness.” The Virginia State Assembly even stated that we have a right to the ‘pursuit of estate.’ Jefferson was using Locke’s own words with the idea of the pursuit of ECONOMIC happiness in the context of the economic freedoms we have. That is why he wrote the phrase, “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness [Estate or Property]” in the Declaration of Independence. Basic to the government of America is a free economy not controlled by the government.
The U.S. Constitution also speaks of a free economy. The purpose of the Constitution is to provide limits to the power of the federal government. Economic power is left to the people with the inclusion of these various provisions of the Constitution.
Commerce Clause: Congress has the power to secure a free economic marketplace that is protected from state interference
Contracts Clause: Secures contractual obligations
Bill of Rights: Protects property rights
Privileges and Immunities Clause: Protects economic liberty
Fifth and Fourteenth Amendment Due Process Clauses: Protects economic liberty
The United States of America is founded upon the twin liberties of government and economy. A free democratic republic and a free economic marketplace. Without this, this nation would have ended up like Argentina, who in the early 19th century, had almost the same structure to their government and economy. Now that they have returned to it, they are prospering again. Now that we are turning away from it, we are headed for economic disaster.
The Constitution is our guide to our nation’s political future. Nowhere in the Constitution are there provisions for the redistribution of wealth, for the fixing of prices to avoid supposed price gouging, for buying people homes, for providing free health care, and on and on… We can safely say that Fascism, Communism, Socialism, Progressivism, and the like have no home in our Constitution. Capitalism has a home there but it is under attack by the current regime in power in Washington D.C..
When we find our Constitution under attack with the authoritarians in government who use Big Government for their socialist ends, they find dictatorial power in their hands just the same as a fascist government would. Seeking to provide for the needs of equality and state mechanisms to satisfy that equality, a fascist state has to emerge in place of a free democratic republic as the state is used to end a free economy for some sense of equity. Fascism and Socialism will merge, not because they are similar ideologies, but because they are devolving from the same foundation of state and economy defined by our Constitution.
The Democrat Party has largely become the nation’s National Socialist Party where wealth redistribution, etc., is a primary goal of the Progressives of that Party. Their goals have been pursued for over 8 decades since the New Deal of the 1930s, and they are not prepared to stop. Now, they are taking steps to decide what price you pay for gas, milk, and bread, what kind of cars businesses can make and sell, and that’s just for starters. The point to glean here is that Big Government is about to take control of America’s Economic Businesses. We are headed for a Socialist-Fascist government where the economy is dictated by Big Government, contrary to our nation’s founding.
At the root of the economics of socialism is the political system of dictatorship. This is also the foundation of fascism. Granted, there are differences between the two but here the point to gather is that with the same foundation of unlimited (unconstitutional) power, come the exercise of wealth redistribution and control of America’s businesses. Fascism at its core is the government take over of business at every level to serve the state. And that is what Kamala Harris is leading us to with her campaign for President of the United States. Wake up America, what lies ahead is not a bag of tricks to help you buy a home, go to school, and have clean air; what is awaiting around the corner is the next chapter in the Obama/Biden/Harris regime where Socialist Fascism seeks to become the norm.
