The Alchemy of Evolution is a journey for the mind down the path of history where together we will discover the ideas of the ancient past recurring in the present. The ideas of old are still with us today. Order from chaos, matter once in chaos taking on new forms. Ideas of transformations of species. From ancient myth to ancient philosophy, we see the ideas that subsequently led to the ideas of alchemy re-formed into new ideas of evolution.
Ever wonder about how one might turn lead into gold? The alchemists sought the elusive Philosopher’s Stone to do this. Medieval alchemy, based upon Aristotelian metaphysics, said that the same material substance in the species of lead is also in the species of gold, just in different forms. And through the process of the transformation of species, lead can be made into gold.
Fast forward to the modern age where the ideas of evolution say the same thing. The same material substance that is in the species of man is also in the species of an amoeba, just in different forms. Protoplasm or protein was that substance they said was in both forms. And again, through the process of the transformation of species, an amoeba can become man. Modern day evolution is just a new form of the old ideas of alchemy.
As we travel together in this journey of history, we will see the history of ideas over thousands of years. We will be introduced to concepts of empirical vs philosophical science. We will see that as evolution isn’t real (transformations of one kind of species to a different kind); we will also see that the science of genetics (mutations of species within a kind) is real. Natural Selection is real science but only for the science of genetics.
I spent 40 years studying and collecting details to put into this book. I have a background in history and applied science (technology) and I bring a unique perspective to the evo-creation debates. Though the many pages of this book run on about the history of alchemy and its connection to evolution, you’ll find many insights into the ideas of science that are sometimes true and sometimes false. So sit down with a cup of your favorite beverage and spend some time traveling through the history of ideas that show evolution as an extension of the ideas of alchemy. This is The Alchemy of Evolution!

John Emil Carlson and John Benton Carlson were a part of the Swedish community in Central Texas where they learned the love of God and Country. J.E. Carlson was J.B. Carlson's favorite Uncle and namesake. They both grew up on a farm in Texas and learned the value of hard work. And when their country called upon them, they both served their country with honor.
The story of WWI was one of average Americans called to serve their country in a time of international crisis. Like thousands of others, John E. Carlson answered the call of duty and fought overseas. His journey with the goth Infantry Division on the Western Front in France as a light machine gunner shows the courage of the men who fought on the front lines. They won the war and with the Occupation of Germany, they also won the peace.
The story of WWII is in part a continuation of the first world war as the second world war was begun by a German corporal who lost his fight in WWI. After Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, Hitler declared war on the U.S. and American went to war again. John B. Carlson answered the call of duty, like his uncle, and prepared for the Invasion of Japan. However, two nuclear bombs ended the war and Carlson would instead serve in the Occupation of Japan. This is their story.
