Government Investment or Tax and Spend Liberalism

Kamala Harris Advocating Bidenomics Prior to Biden Dropping Out of the 2024 Campaign

Kamala Harris, candidate for President, has championed government investments as she boasts about Bidenomics. She says she wants to invest more in the future of the middle class but she is more likely to kill the wealth of the middle class instead. Where does the money come from that she will use to invest with? It will come from the pockets of the middle class who will pay higher taxes and more money for groceries and bills due to increased government regulation and out of control government spending.  Harris’ Investments is nothing more than the age old false liberalism of the Left in American politics that is commonly recognized as Tax and Spend Liberalism.

Investments in the private sector start with private funds that are used for company startups. These funds can come from one’s savings accounts, loans, or partnerships just to name a few. The government, however, never borrows from its own savings accounts, takes out loans from banks, or forms partnerships with other private citizens. Instead, the government raises the tax rate to take more money out of your pocket to put it into the pockets of other people. This is a tireless practice of the Democrat Party stemming from the false liberalism of the Progressive movement.

Progressives from the New Deal of the 1930s sought to redistribute wealth in a socialist experiment to exit the Great Depression. Where the middle class was small and public debt was large, socialism was seen as a means to an end. However, it took WWII to exit economic collapse as industry and workers won the war as much at home, with hard work, as they did on the battle field. But Progressives continued to make changes to our government despite the fact that these changes did not merit Constitutional authority. Without Constitutional Amendments, anti-Constitutional goals such as socialism were achieved as taxation was used for the redistribution of wealth.

Coupled with the work ethic and emerging socialism of the New Deal was the idea of welfare state liberalism. The idea was presented (falsely) that special welfare could be regarded as general welfare. The U.S. Constitution provided that taxation could be levied to provide for the General Welfare but special welfare was antithetical to the Constitution (Article 1, Section 8) that provided the boundaries of what taxes could be levied for and spent on. Progressives had to cheat the system to implement their New Deal policies.

To change the application of the Constitution in terms of special/social welfare becoming general welfare, the Congress and the White House sought to pressure the Supreme Court to change their mind on what the Constitution actually says. The famous ‘Switch in Time that Saved Nine’ case in the U.S. Supreme Court provided a false sense of legitimacy for the Progressive movement and it is still in force today. Obama’s Affordable Care Act (ACA) is a modern example of the false idea that special welfare is somehow general welfare.

At its core, the Progressive movement was a religious movement. Many pillars of the Christian faith were torn down to allow for new ones to be erected. Instead of the Love of God found in Jesus Christ where we have the forgiveness of sin, a false application of love enabled sin and sought social justice for all apart from the Righteousness of God. This has been characterized as a Christless Christianity where Love was elevated to the level of Godhood instead of the person of God - Jesus Christ. Many social failures have come from the Progressive movement (legalized abortion, legalized drug abuse, false sense of social justice for LGBTQ+, etc.) while tax dollars are spent on the failed policies that led to these failures. Social Justice is not what the Constitution says our tax dollars are for.

Add to the false religion of the Left the practice of false Liberalism. The Progressives have created a system of taxing other people to give money as charitable donations for charitable causes for social justice, yet, they do not give their own money for these charities that they require from taxpayers. This is false generosity (non-liberal giving) or ill-liberalism. The hypocrisy of the Left is apparent; and more so, it is a violation of the Separation of Church and State.

Back in the day (1770s) when James Madison circulated his Memorial and Remonstrance Against Religious Assessments in Revolutionary Virginia, he spoke out against government taxation for tithes and offerings that were used to fund the government run Church and pay for charitable ventures. As Madison was successful (1786), the original application of the Separation of Church and State prevented this practice from continuing, until Progressives reinstituted religious assessments for their ‘tax and spend illiberalism’ in the late 19th century. The idea of charitable giving by the force of taxation used to fund Progressive policies of social justice is not only a violation of Article 1, Section 8, it is a violation of the Separation of Church and State. The Left is guilty of this breach of contract between the people and the government.

Seeking social equity, the Left also seeks to enable in lifestyle practices that do not profit people or society. Economics (etymology: rule of the household) depends on the ability of the individuals to work and pay their bills to support their families in their own homes. A level playing field is required for competition of jobs and employment but equal outcomes where everyone makes the same money is not required. Equity, not equality, seeks an outcome of equal proportions; competition is not their goal. The Left seeks to level not only the playing field but the ability that each individual has to get ahead based upon their own skills and work ethic. Exceptional performance is met with excessive taxation. And this kills the middle class as much or more than the death tax, which limits wealth from being transferred from one generation to the next (its transferred to the state to help keep poor families poor).

We should always remember that the Left in our country will always apply a false sense of social justice to prop up illegitimate goals; they cannot disabuse themselves of it. Add to that the fact that tax and spend liberalism will always be the means of their false generosity as they tax the American population more to try and establish social justice more. As the Left is based upon wrong religious, Constitutional, and economic foundations, they are damaging the very people they say they want to help. Their Investments actually kill good initiatives.

Government Malpractice

The U.S. Constitution provides for prescriptive powers that identify what the federal government should do. According to the 10th Amendment, if there is a power not listed in the Constitution, it doesn’t belong to the federal government. Medical care is one of those powers of government to oversee not listed in the U.S. Constitution and is reserved to the States and We the People. Failing to follow the prescription of the Constitution in this regard has led to the ill health of our nation’s body politic.

Take the idea of medicine once being a charitable venture in the 1930s and 1940s. A popular movie series portrays this idea with the hero Dr. Kildare. He was a young intern when he began his medical career and was more interested in the medical care of the people than the money he could make. People, not people’s money, was the object of his profession. Sadly, Progressivism has killed the idea of charity in medicine and the profit motive has taken its place.

One example, in the 1940s, is where Progressives sought to provide new hospitals to any municipality that wanted one by offering free loans (Investments) to these cities; money that came from the Federal government via the taxpayers. The Hill-Burton Act (1946) allowed the new construction of hospitals in any city with a guaranteed loan; but in return for this interest free loan, the hospital were required to serve the poor and indigent as an obligation for taking these loans. This led to higher hospital costs, which the middle class patients had to pay; patients with a healthy wallet paid for the free services that the poor received. This was all due to the false charity of the federal government and illiberals.

Another example, in the 1960s, is with Medicare and Medicaid that become the new Progressive push for the healthcare of the elderly and the poor. Whereas doctors used to provide for one month of free charitable healthcare out of the year (remember Kildare?), these new pogroms started to pay for their free services. The charity that was once genuine was lost as doctors began to seek the lucre of government money, taken from charitable taxpayers. The false charity provided by the State killed the genuine charity of the medical community. Now, medicine is big business.

Fast forward to the Obama administration and we can see ObamaCare (aka ACA) providing more false charity with what the U.S. Supreme Court has declared a tax. As the Court upheld the ability of the Congress to levy taxes, they never addressed the question of whether or not Special Welfare is Constitutional. The Court thought their work was finished but they should revisit the ruling and determine, according to Article 1, Section 8, whether or not ACA is Special Welfare; and if it is, it should be ruled unconstitutional and overturned, along with the ‘Switch in Time that Save Nine.’ Here then, we can end the false legitimacy of the entire Progressive movement!

Obama, Biden, and now Harris all want to move the Progressives forward in the 21st century. Instead of allowing for the transportability of health insurance across state lines (a GOP goal), the illiberals of Washington D.C. continue to seek new ways of packaging their ‘Tax and Spend Liberalism.’ Harris wants to make new ‘Investments’ with tax payer dollars for her list of State charities. ‘Investments’ is nothing more than code for ‘Tax and Spend Liberalism.’ This will not restore our country’s broken economy, rising debt, failing social norms, or expensive medical care. Every time the Left wants to fix a problem they end up making it far worse. And Kamala Harris will try harder than ever before to fix everything in sight. God help us!
