Unknown to most people is a silent coup that took place under the Obama Administration. Nearly 200 flag officers were dismissed from the ranks of the U.S. military due to one reason or another. Replacing those where were dismissed, the Obama administration cleverly eliminated any opposition to the changes imposed on the military in support of the “militant homosexual lobby.” Since then, this silent but effective coup has made strides in eliminating any opposition to LGBTQ ideology that is in force today. This, however, may change given a new administration with some respect of transcendent moral value and social norms.
For the military to operate it must of necessity establish discipline and that includes moral and behavioral discipline as well as others. Certain activities such as adultery, that may seem to be acceptable in some social circles, is not acceptable behavior in the military; one may be dishonorably discharged for participating in this sexual immoral behavior. This was also the case with the practice of sodomy and homosexuality; a situation that the Militant Homosexual Lobby saw as an obstacle to make their behavior perceived as a social norm, which it isn’t.
The “militant homosexual lobby” is a term that has not been used in years. However, in presenting metrics to substantiate merits, the graph below [from Google’s NGram Viewer] shows, this term began in the mid-1970s and was used to describe the ‘social justice’ movement of an immoral lifestyle not generally accepted by American society. This was a part of the emerging culture wars and the exercise of social engineering from the Left wing of American politics.
Data from Google's NGram Viewer
The graph simply shows the usage of the phrase “militant homosexual lobby” in English language publications for the last 60 years; this is a data tool only and Google makes no comment on the results of the data. Clearly, this is a phrase invented in the 1970s that had currency for what was the emerging pressure received from the homosexual lobby to change social norms and institutions based upon those norms.
The issue of homosexuals had been addressed in the military for more than 100 years. Given principles developed over time, this was again reviewed in the Reagan era when in 1982 homosexuals were banned from serving in the military as their behavior disqualified them. The rule was that if you were homosexual you received a general discharge but if you practiced sodomy (hetero- or homo-sexual), you were given a less than honorable discharge (so too the practice of adultery). The “militant homosexual lobby” saw this as an obstacle to overcome.
In 1993, the Clinton administration instituted a new policy of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” (DADT). This removed the previous orders and replaced them with what was perceived to be a more compassionate policy. However, homosexuals were still being removed from the military for not complying with the new DADT rules; although DADT was meant to help them, many still couldn’t follow the new rules. During the Obama administration, more severe measures would be used to remove any objections or restrictions from homosexuals in the military.
In 2010, Bob Gates (Secretary of Defense from 2006 to 2011) spoke before Congress of ending DADT. Gates was quoted at one point stating that the influx of homosexuals into the military was inevitable. Gates was the only thing inevitable and Congress was primed to comply. He gave the same ‘inevitable’ remarks about the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), which led to children being subjected to sexual perverts and predators in the BSA.
It was during this time that the Obama administration purged approximately 200 Flag Officers from the military. Many, not all, had viewpoints that didn’t support homosexuals in the military. While the exact number of people removed for their views on this subject is not presently known, Flag Officers were removed and replaced with more compliant officers who would support the Obama Party line and agenda. It is clear that during the Obama years, any opposition to the changes to come were removed in a silent coup behind the scenes that supported the objectives of the “militant homosexual lobby.” The bill to repeal DADT passed by Congress during a lame duck session in December 2010, and Mr. Obama signed it. Shortly thereafter in 2012, the first openly homosexual officer was promoted to the rank of a Flag Officer. Of the many Flag Officers removed, those that replaced them were more in line with the Obama administration and its coordinate agenda. Hence, this is the silent coup that was hidden behind the scenes in support of the “militant homosexual lobby” was ultimately successful.
Not surprising, in 2021, the Biden administration followed suit to open the door to all sorts of alphabet soup sexual perversions call LGBTQ. The lunacy of dismissing transcendent moral truths that should guide behavioral discipline in the U.S. military has not earned anyone a distinction of merit in their military career. The professional warfighters we rely upon for our national defense have since been subjected to increased rates of sodomy/rape and the data that reports this has been covered up under the term of ‘dominance’; the Left just cannot come to terms that their agenda has put service men and women of sexual predators in the military. The idea of social justice in the military for homosexuals, before establishing military discipline, is contrary to the wellbeing of the military and our country.
Recall that the push for social justice for Black men and women who served in our nation’s military, with honor, since our nation’s founding in 1776. This was never debilitating to military discipline because it didn’t espouse immoral behavior; there is nothing immoral about being Black. Making a comparison with homosexuality/LGBTQ with human skin color is not valid as the former represent deviant moral character, behavior not suited for military service, and the latter is simply a characteristic that God gave us with our ethnicity. And if we compare the immoral activity of sodomy with adultery, marital infidelity is still grounds for dismissal from the military. Like adultery, LGBTQ behavior should be grounds for dismissal; it undermines personal and corporate discipline and moral. Sexual depravity of any kind is not sufficient grounds to build character in our nation’s warfighters and has no place in our country’s military.
I have witnessed the political agenda of the Left using DoD websites to establish Pride month (June), Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI; called IDE on one DoD website), and other Woke agendas in the military. The false sense of social justice is what drives much of the liberal policies of the Left in America and much of it came from the Obama/Biden administrations. In 2019, Mr. Trump spoke of a false sense of ‘social justice’ when addressing the United Nations. A false sense of ‘social justice’ often leads policy makers on the Left to the twisted decisions. [I’ve published other blogs noting that Dr. King and Dr. Kirk both spoke in transcendent moral terms for their political views left and right; a nexus for a common ground of ‘social justice.’]

Pete Hegseth, the newly nominated Secretary of Defense, has a huge battle on his hands with the attempted takeover of the U.S. Military by the Woke agenda; one example of a false sense of ‘social justice.’ But will the Trump Administration also tackle the issues surrounding the false social agenda of the “Militant LGBTQ Lobby” that is in place today? It remains to be seen if President Elect Trump will support Mr. Hegseth, our military’s moral dignity/moral discipline, and our country’s basic social moral values by returning the military to the rules of the Reagan Administration. Its time to end the influence of the Militant Homosexual Lobby in our nation’s military and present a sense of 'common sense' (conscience) in our nation once again.
